Vocal Harmonies by The Coupe

•  Our vocals (all five band members sang lead and background vocals) and vocal harmonies were among the greatest strengths of the band. 
Sounds of The Coupe (Grooving in any style and at any tempo!)

•  Yup! Grooving on songs ranging from ballads to mainstream to dance music to hard rock.
Doc Goes Back to the Bass-ics (fretless, slap bass, etc.)

• If you really want to hear my bass playing, I recommend listening to the "Sounds of The Coupe," "Intros, Instrumental Breaks, and Random, Cool Musical Excerpts," and "Vocal Harmonies," since the bass lines in those collections are more representative of what I played typically. This particular collection of bass-specific excerpts focuses specifically on the kinds of playing I did that "pushed the envelope" a bit (fretless bass, octave-doubled lines, use of a Mutron envelope generator, and some fun slap bass examples). It's thankfully short as a result. 
Doc's Vocals: Lead Vocals, Background Vocals, & Falsetto

• To this day, I can rarely listen to my own vocals without cringing. I hope your reaction is more positive! ;)
Doc as a Multi-instrumentalist (saxophone, keyboards, and random horn section stuff)

• In addition to the variety of vocal sounds evident in the "Vocal Harmonies" example above, the versatility in the sound of The Coupe was greatly enhanced by the fact that we were all multi-instrumentalists and singers. In addition to bass, I played sax and keyboards; in addition to keyboards, Dave W. played bass and trombone; in addition to keyboards, Rick played trumpet; in addition to guitar, Joe played chromatic harmonica; and, in addition to drums, Dave U. sang like a bird! Oh, and don't forget, Fred (our sound man) also played bass, so when he came on stage, we could have a full rhythm section plus three-piece horn section (sax, trumpet, & trombone). Check out the variety of sounds evident in this collection of excerpts as a result of many, varied instrumental combinations.
Intros, Instrumental Breaks, and Random, Cool Musical Excerpts

• This is an interesting collection of excerpts that might be difficult to classify, consisting of instrumental breaks, musical introductions, and some cool excerpts that may not have appeared elsewhere. I hope you enjoy these unique musical escapades!
Videos of select performances by the Coupe (this should be entertaining, right?)
• These are very informal video recordings; after all, consumer video was not very good (and extremely expensive) in the mid-1980s. Be patient with the videography ... but it does capture some pretty interesting moments in love performance, including me and Don (guitar player) walking around the club and standing on tables (or the bar) as we played with our wireless guitar/bass rigs (also very uncommon for the era!).

If you are interested, you can take Dr. L's "guided tour" of music by The Coupe, the rock band with which he played from 1982 to 1987, traveling all across the U.S. and Canada, before settling in L.A. (late 1983), where they became one of the best known Top 40 bands in southern California. Like other recordings on this website, you will only be able to listen to the music and view videos with a the temporary username and password Doc provides to you ... limited almost exclusively to students enrolled in his classes.

Hamilton (Broadway Road Tour)

• In January 2011, Aiden moved to New York City -- with members of his band, Carney (see below) -- to play in the orchestra for Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark on Broadway. Their lead singer, Reeve Carney, was selected by Julie Taymor (Director), Bono, and the Edge (the latter two from U2) to perform the role of Peter Parker, which he did for the first three years of the three-and-a-half year run.

• He then departed NYC to join one of the two Broadway touring companies for Hamilton (the rap-based, Broadway musical)

• on July 30, 2012, Carney opened for U2 on the final concert of their "360 World Tour" in Moncton, New Brunswick
